Loose Toilet Seat

 

One of the most annoying things about a bathroom is a loose toilet seat. No matter how many times you tighten the seat retainer bolts the seat always seems to be loose. There is a solution that will eliminate this constant annoyance...it is a simple thing and probably costs less than a dollar.

Install tapered rubber washers on the underside of the toilet seat retainer bolts. These tapered washers are common known as tubing seals and are used for sealing copper tubing to the underside of sink faucets. The washer or seals can be found in the plumbing section of your home store. They come in several sizes...but the size that works on toilet seats in usually 3/8" or 5/16".

It is best to buy a toilet seat with metal hinges and retainer bolts...the plastic type just does not perform as well.
